Alan Dunn & Jeff Young – MOTTO.
MOTTO was a project Alan Dunn and I curated in St Helens in 2008. Inspired by the town’s motto – Ex Terra Lucem – which translates literally as ‘Out of the ground came light’ we worked with ex coal miners and community groups and, for a two week period we took over every billboard in the town to post visual poems. Some of these billboards can be seen below. (all photos Alan Dunn).
